How to Change Your iPhone Location Without Jailbreaking (2026 Guide)
Every way to change where your iPhone thinks it is - from built-in settings to GPS simulation - and which one actually moves your location for every app, with no jailbreak.

You want your iPhone to show up somewhere else. Maybe you're testing an app, protecting your privacy, or planning a trip and want to see what's around before you get there. The good news: in 2026 you don't need to jailbreak to do it. The bad news: most of the "change location" tips online don't actually change your GPS location at all.
This guide walks through every option, what each one really changes, and how to move your iPhone's location for every app at once without a jailbreak.
First: there are three different "locations" on an iPhone
People mix these up constantly, and it's why so many guides disappoint.
- Your GPS location - where Maps, Find My, weather and every location-based app think you are. This is what most people mean.
- Your App Store country or region - which store you see and which apps you can download. Changing this doesn't move you on a map. (See our guide on App Store region vs GPS location.)
- Your IP address - where websites think you are. A VPN changes this, but a VPN does not change your GPS location. Apps that use GPS still see where you really are.
If you want apps to believe you're in Paris, you need to change number 1.
Option 1: Turn Location Services off (hides, doesn't move)
Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Switching it off stops apps getting your location at all. You can also set it per app ("Never", "While Using", "Ask Next Time") and turn off Precise Location so apps only get a rough area.
- Good for: privacy.
- Doesn't: put you somewhere else. Apps just see "no location".
Option 2: A VPN (changes IP, not GPS)
A VPN makes websites and some streaming services think you're in another country. It does nothing for GPS. Maps will still show your real street.
Option 3: Xcode location simulation (developers only)
Apple builds GPS simulation into its developer tools. With a Mac, Xcode and a cable you can pick a simulated location for your iPhone. It works, but you need Xcode (a 10 GB+ download), your phone usually has to stay connected, and it isn't designed for everyday use.
Option 4: A location changer app (moves your GPS for every app)
This is the option most people actually want. A location changer uses the same developer location feature Apple gives app makers, but wraps it in a normal app: search for a place, tap it, and your whole phone reports that location. Every app - Maps, weather, Find My, location-based apps - sees the new spot.
Mirrage works this way:
- No jailbreak. It uses Apple's own location simulation, so nothing on your iPhone is modified. Stop it and your real location comes straight back.
- No computer after setup. You use a computer once, for about five minutes. After that everything happens on your phone.
- Realistic movement. As well as teleporting, it can take a pretend drive, cycle or walk along real roads, speeding up, slowing down and stopping at junctions. Try the live demo.
How to change your iPhone location with Mirrage, step by step
- Get Mirrage from the pricing page. You'll get a licence key straight away.
- Download Mirrage Setup for your computer and plug your iPhone in. Setup installs the app, turns on Developer Mode and pairs your phone, moving on by itself as you go.
- Install LocalDevVPN (free, on the App Store) and switch it on. Mirrage uses it to talk to your phone - here's what it does.
- Open Mirrage, search for a place, and tap Teleport here. That's it. Your iPhone is now there.
To go back, tap Stop. Your real GPS returns instantly.
Which option should you use?
| You want to... | Use |
|---|---|
| Stop apps seeing where you are | Location Services settings |
| Look like you're in another country to websites | A VPN |
| Appear somewhere else in every app | A location changer like Mirrage |
| Test your own app's location features | Xcode, or Mirrage for real-device tests |
A note on using it responsibly
Changing your location is legal in most places, but how you use it matters. Don't use it to deceive people in ways that harm them, to commit fraud, or to get around the law. Many apps and games also forbid it in their own terms and can suspend accounts. And always stop the simulation before relying on your location - for example when navigating or in an emergency.
FAQ
Can I change my iPhone location without a computer?
Not entirely. iOS only lets location simulation be switched on from a computer, so every method needs one at least once. With Mirrage it's a one-time, five-minute setup; after that you never need the computer again. More in our guide to changing location without a computer.
Does a VPN change my iPhone's GPS location?
No. A VPN only changes your IP address. Apps that use GPS - Maps, Find My, weather and most location-based apps - still see your real position.
Will changing my location damage my iPhone?
No. Location simulation is a standard developer feature. Nothing is jailbroken or modified, and turning it off restores your real location immediately.
Does it work on the latest iOS?
Mirrage works on iOS 17.4 and later, including the current release.
